Where's my Cybertruck?
With 1.6m pre-orders for the Tesla Cybertruck, Tesla is poised to make a killing to its top line when they finally starts producing it at scale down the line.
Guys, the suspense is killing me. With the recent leakage of some photos of a Cybertruck frame, and the promotion of Tom Zhu (Shanghai Tesla President) to oversee global operations and especially that of Giga Texas, Tesla is determined to rally a lot of resources to ensure the successful start of production of its long waited Cybertruck.
Man, was this a long wait or what? The Cybertruck was unveiled more than three years ago in November of 2019. Since then, many leaked photos of various small design changes have circulated in the news, and the wait list just kept on growing. Heck, even my dad ordered one few months ago, for no apparent reason at all because he’s never owned a truck before. However, he was a very satisfied customer of Tesla after owning a Model 3 for more than 3 years.
You would’ve thought by now, with production in sight, the design of the Cybertruck must be well understood. Yet, there’re still a lot of mysteries about this truck. What’s going to be the battery configurations? How big is it going to be? Is it going to feature the new 4860 battery? Does the thing really float on water? The list goes on…
One thing that’s for sure, people who’s signed up to get one will probably see theirs roll off production line sometime in 2024, if not 2025. Tesla took 5 years to ramp up production of all its Model 3 from 0 to approximately 300k-400k just this year. If the Cybertruck back order is really 1.6 million, that’s enough demand to last 4-5 years even if the production of the truck can ramp from 0 to 300-400k per year immediately, which is impossible.
